Summary
In some ways, Webber reminded her of Abigail. Too many ways, actually.
And that terrified her.
Shouldn’t that mean she ought to keep her distance? If he kept making her think of Abigail, wouldn’t it be easier to mourn if he weren’t around? If she didn’t have a constant reminder of what she lost? But she didn’t feel sad next to Webber. In fact… she felt the opposite. He distracted her. Made her feel like a child again, like she wasn’t trapped in a world that felt too big, too cruel. When he talked to her, when he laughed, it was easier to forget – if only for a little while.
Maybe, with him around, she could pretend she was just an ordinary kid again.

The sky had looked nice for once, instead of the usual, starless void. And if Webber had been flustered and Wendy had been quieter than usual, well…
It was for safety.
Right?
