Summary
After returning home from Under the Mountain, everyone is struggling to cope with the trauma of Amarantha's reign. Rhys lingers in the shadows at the Spring Court, concerned about Feyre's mental health, and his presence spurs events to unfold in unexpected ways.
The plot covers the events of A Court of Mist and Fury with major alterations. In this AU, we see what could have happened if characters were honest with each other, and talked things out rather than speaking in riddles or just avoiding topics altogether. We also get some actual apologies for egregious behavior that got glossed over in canon (looking at you, Rhys Under the Mountain) and big reveals that get put off to later books or not at all (looking at you, Lucien's paternity).
Relationships in this AU are fully consensual rather than based on bargains made under duress, half-truths, or huge power imbalances, so romances that had an enemies-to-lovers flavor feel more like friends to lovers.

Summary
A few weeks after Briallyn's attempt at uniting with Koschei, Lucien opens the door of Lockhart Manor to find Elain, cold from the rain and holding a note from the High Lady of the Night Court demanding her to assist Lucien in building alliances with the human councils.
Forced to work together by their exhausted High Lord and Lady, Elain is able to convince anyone to do anything, while Lucien has the acquaintances to go anywhere he likes.

They had thought they had broken Vassa's spell and put a stop to Koschei's scheme, but they had been fooled. Koschei claimed his blood, Elain, exchanged for Vassa, so he can use the magic of the Blood Moon, during the next Winter Solstice, a few months away, to free himself from his prison. The HIgh Fae's forces on the Continent are also stirring and war is imminent.
Lucien is desperate to get his mate back, even if for that he will have to fight all of Prythian, and all the Continent, and an ancient god of death, to save Elain.
