“I did,” Takumi chirped, propping his head up. He stared at Souma with admiration, never daring to look away. “But she’s gone. It’s just me here now.”
Takumi inched closer – dying to be near Souma as his breath hitched. He watched Souma closely, unable to calm his racing heart as Takumi anticipated Souma’s words. Though, when Souma finally spoke up again, it was as if Takumi’s world suddenly stopped.
“Then I guess I’ll just have to keep you company.”

'There was their third year, when there was something going on between them, even if it couldn't really be categorized (Yamaguchi referred to it as "complicated", Tsukishima preferred "a fucking disaster"). Kageyama hadn't forgotten, but he'd basically barely been able to look Hinata in the eye the entire day, until he finally asked if Hinata wanted to get food after practice. So Hinata's present that year had still been meat buns, plus one popsicle. Started from the bottom, as they say.'
