“Hey!” Wei Wuxian calls, and he’s glad to have the man pause and slightly turn his eyes over his shoulder. The smile had not disappeared from his face through their entire, one-sided, conversation. “Don’t be too cold with the kiddos, you’ll make them cry!”
“Ridiculous.”
His voice, deep and quiet, yet loud enough for Wei Wuxian to hear. His word was short and straight forward, authoritative and sharp, and yet, it made a shiver run down the poor tattoo artist’s spine. It should’ve been intimidating, but all Wei Wuxian could do was throw his head back and laugh.
“Oh, oh! You’re a funny one!”
Or: Carefree, Tattoo artist Wei Wuxian meets stone cold and strict, yet softy Teacher Lan Zhan. And both learn that it’s okay to not be okay while supporting each other.

Summary
Silver eyes gaze at the Twin Jade of Gusu through his lashes. Lan Zhan gazed at him back with expectancy, taking in every movement involving his hand. It almost seemed like Lan Zhan had stopped breathing all together, waiting in anticipation for the other’s next move. A smile tugs Wei Wuxian’s lips into a smirk before bringing the bruised hand close to his lips. They barely brush against the soft skin, but it’s enough to make the other jerk his hand out of Wei Wuxian’s grip.
“Wei Ying… What are you—“ Lan Wangji asks, almost breathless. He shouldn’t find it so cute, so adorable. He shouldn’t find it so exciting to notice how Lan Zhan was already breathing heavily with just the brush of his lips. As if he hadn’t pinned him down and stolen his first kiss, his breath away, a few moments ago.
“What do you think I’m doing?” He asks with an eyebrow quirked upward. When Lan Zhan doesn’t respond, he takes his hand once more.
Or; Wei Wuxian knows Lan Wangji was the shy maiden that stole his first kiss.

“Lan Zhan?”
“Mn?”
“Are you… feeling okay?”
The question is odd, but not enough to have him panic. Sometimes, before they let themselves be taken by slumber, Wei Ying’s thoughts and uncertainties got the best of him and Lan Wangji would ease his worries every single time. As many times as he needed.
“I am now that I have you in my arms.” Lan Wangji replied truthfully, hugging his husband tighter to his chest.
Wei Wuxian chuckles against his chest, though something tells Lan Wangji that wasn’t enough. Though, before he could ask anything else, Wei Ying spoke once more. “That’s not what I mean… I mean, that’s good! I also feel more than okay in your arms. Thing is, I noticed something…” Lan Wangji waits silently, patiently for his husband to gather his thoughts. “You… while you made me beg for mercy, you just sounded a little bit out of breath...”
Or; Lan Zhan gets sick :(

But Lan Yuan was not a liar.

“A-Zhan, do you have a question?” She asked quietly, chuckling when Lan Wangji’s small frame tensed up more than it already was. A few seconds go by before he nods once.
His mother hums in acknowledgment, giving permission for her youngest child to ask the question that had been roaming freely in his head. He had to ask, it was serving as a huge distraction from his studies. Lips part open, though his voice comes out more hushed than he anticipated. “A-Niang… What… What color are the gentians in the garden?”
Or, no one can see true colors unless they touch their soulmate.

And he sounds… upset?
“Uhm… No?” Wei Ying answers eloquently.
“Mn. Keep it that way.”
Or: after a meeting with a cute barista and a small intruder on his balcony, Wei Ying slowly realises he deserves some light in his life.
