With age came experience and after transferring clubs twice in the past few years, Daniel wanted nothing more than to feel settled. His move to France was supposed to be that but there was the club’s internal politics, Cyril’s weary face as he explained that the budget wasn’t there to improve the team and a style that he just wasn’t suited for. The move to England was a chance to reboot his career, to remind people why he was so highly rated in the first place.
Or, Daniel's settling into his new team and has a lot of Feelings about it. Takes place around 6 months after 'never stopped me dreaming' but you don't need to read that one first to make sense of this.

It was a silly Twitter meme that had somehow morphed into an actual nickname and even a chant where the fans declared him to be better than the man they were comparing him to.
“Bristol De Bruyne.” Lando said with a sigh.
“That’s the Bristol De Bruyne that we all know. Relax. Anything can happen between now and then. All you can do is work hard and hope the manager sees it.”
