Summary
With allies hidden from her, Edelgard von Hresvelg must navigate a new job as a librarian at the esteemed Garreg Mach Monastery until her plans fall apart after the murder of her associate. Joining forces with her mysterious coworker, Byleth, the two are pulled into an anxiety-inducing investigation that leads them to places and beings neither could even conceive of, while the only thing keeping them afloat is their bond.
A modern AU inspired by murder mysteries and cosmic/eldritch horror that I thought might work within some contexts of Three Houses.

Summary
Edelgard von Hresvelg was searching for answers shrouded in dark when her path crossed with a mysterious Child of the Goddess. In the ruins of Garreg Mach Monastery, amidst a devastation echoed by all of Fódlan, she was granted one chance to uncover the truth.
One chance to shed light upon the shadows who bore Fódlan in its iron grip.
One chance to piece together a history long erased.
…And one chance to change a fate already determined by both.
The Archbishop’s prized knight was the key. Of that she was certain.
What she did not know was why two hidden entities of Fódlan were interested in as seemingly a nondescript and undeniably odd woman as Byleth Eisner.
But there were whispers amongst the staff of the great cathedral. They spoke of being in Byleth’s presence and seeing the Goddess.
Ridiculous. Absurd. Nothing more than lunatic ravings of the radically religious, she would say.
…She considered them all the same.

Summary
Edelgard is a Junior at Enbarr University. She has friends, her pre-law degree is going well, and despite her father’s death a few months ago is holding on considerably well with the assistance of her loving Uncle Volkhard and chauffeur Metodey.
Until she finds Metodey slain, his heart carved from his chest and ashes strewn across his eyes with a letter written to her on his lap. The letter from a mysterious stranger signed as ‘Dianthus’, aka the Ashen Killer, provides photographic proof of Metodey’s crimes and condemns her Uncle as a criminal mastermind.
Plunged into the depths of Enbarr’s criminal underworld, Edelgard will have to learn the truth for herself and decide if she can trust the Ashen Killer to help put her world back together.

Summary
Among the first pieces of advice Byleth received as a new professor, only two stood out a hundred years later:
First, not all students were destined to succeed and that it was not her own failure if they didn't make it.
Second, a good teacher should be open minded and strive to learn from their students too.

The war is over, the Flame Emperor has fallen, and Fodlan is united under the Church.
With every passing year, Byleth grows more certain that she was not a good teacher.
