When he leaves to start a new family and fully abandons you at fourteen, you're left to raise your younger brother alone. Your brother is now enrolled in kindergarten, where he quickly befriends a girl named Missy, unaware that her parents wouldn't ignore what was (supposedly) going on at home. At first, they assumed the occasional presence of you in situations where the father should be involved was a teenager helping out. But as you repeatedly show up in place of a missing parent, Missy’s parents start to take notice.
Or: MC's dad is a deadbeat, and she's raising her brother. Task Force 141, the parents of one of the MC's brother's friends, don’t like it.

You say softly into your earpiece as you weave about the tunnel, stepping over body after body you had downed, your sniper rifle strapped to your back, silenced pistol in one hand, knife in another. You'd been called in last minute to help out from the shadows while the actual team worked ahead.
"A favor for a favor." Laswell responds.
It was rare to get such an offer from her. You figured it was because she wanted this mission to go as smooth as possible. You'd helped her and gotten your hands plenty dirty like this before, nothing new. This time you'd been assigned to help watch their backs while they work their way through the chunnel. What you didn't expect was a near miss with none other than Makarov himself and then being all but drug by the scruff to work with 141 themselves directly. Fun!

True; while on Moff Gideon’s ship, Din Djarin and his crew had deleted the bounty on his son's head, but that meant little in the grand scheme of piss-poor luck Din seemed to have. How he could have possibly thought that just because he handed Grogu off to the sketchy Space Wizard that Grogu would be safe…he couldn't tell you. Because honestly, the moment he got that holo-call from Peli Motto screaming about how some bounty hunter stole the kid for an Imperial High Admiral, and then how she had killed the hunter despite the kid being nowhere to be found…well, he wasn't even remotely shocked.
Definitely scared, extremely pissed off, and slightly homicidal. That he knew.

What Din Djarin, famed bounty hunter, slight himbo, sudden King of Mandalore, and single (but good) father couldn't have known, was that his kid was safe and sound. In fact, the kid was happier than he had been in a while because he had found another space father…who was actually a space mother in disguise.
