Yakumo remembers, once, putting his hand into a bag of rice up to the elbow—the strange, settled feeling that had come over him. And then, of course, his grandmother caught him playing around with the rice and gave him an earful, so he didn't do it again. But for days, weeks, months afterward, Yakumo remembers his mind constantly coming back to it, worrying at it like a loose tooth.

"Yes,” Quincy answers immediately. He tilts his head to the side when Yakumo looks up, amber eyes narrowing. “... But not with a snake.”
