Kim jumps. Apparently, laying down with his eyes closed sharpens his senses to rival Babe’s but standing in a kitchen wide awake dulls them down to nothing. He hadn't heard Sonic approach, but the younger alpha is standing by the kitchen island, clad in maroon silk pyjamas. His hair is pulled up into a small ponytail that reminds Kim of the Teletubbies. It's adorable.
“Are you okay?” Sonic asks hesitantly. “I don't mean to pry, but I hear you moving around the house every night.”

“You’re going to ask no matter what,” Mok sighed. “So demanding.”
Rome immediately pouted. “I’m not! It’s just a little thing, Mok. For my birthday. It won’t even cost you anything!” he insisted, his many glasses of champagne leaving his words just a little soft around the edges.
It might cost me everything.
Mok didn’t respond, fixing Rome with a warning glare he knew would only be ignored. There was nothing he could do to stop the request now—the only thing left was to resist with all his might.
“Can I have a kiss? Please?”

He makes it through his front door before the calls start. He cancels three calls from Shen Wenlang and then gives up and turns off his phone. A moment later, the anxiety hits him and nausea curdles his stomach.
