“You,” Weiss let out a resigned sigh as she pinched the bridge of her nose, “are a reckless idiot, moonlight.”
A low rumbling whine echoed through the cave they had found themselves in, coming from the giant wolf creature sitting with her head tucked down and ears drooping like a scorned pup. With an array of arrows jutting out from her back like she was doing her best impression of a porcupine.
Silver arrows. Weiss could still pick up on the faint sizzling with her sensitive hearing, could smell the damp blood seeping from her partner’s wounds. A faint pressure at her fangs made for an uncomfortable experience, but she had long since learned how to retain the hunger that came with her vampiric curse.
Besides, werewolf blood was foul.
"You know I'm going to have to take those out."

Team RWBY have searched and searched for their missing leader, but after years of no results, they've gone their separate ways. Weiss became the Head of the SDC with her brother, Yang became a huntress, working on odd jobs around Remnant, and Blake became the leader of the White Fang. They each have had to learn to live a life without Ruby Rose.
For Weiss, it's the hardest thing in the world to do. But she does it.
On the week of the anniversary of the battle, when the three of them drop everything else to do their annual hunt, things proceed as they usually do. In the mountains of Mistral, they hunt their elusive quarry and try to treat this mission as every other. It's just a normal mission. Right?
