And for another, you’ve seen enough social media posts and been the shoulder for enough criers to know that maybe it wasn’t worth it. That maybe there wasn’t ever such a thing as an equal partner, so what was the point in looking for one?

Rafayel was the only one who ever asked again. The only one who saw the cracks in the foundation, and then peeked through them. He didn’t just show you the point. He made it so you didn’t even have to look in the first place.)

A slight smirk tugs at the corner of your lips.
“A little tame considering the occasion,” you purr suggestively. “Is that really all you want from me?” You slowly lean in to capture his lips with yours, making sure to tug at the bottom lip with a gentle provocation. “You can be honest. I came here ready to provide my full caretaking services after all.”
Rafayel's eyes widen at the thought, but a brief moment of sobriety prompts him to take a step back, grabbing your waist and guiding you to sit sideways on the couch so that you are both facing each other.
“Listen, I'm not opposed, but you really don't have to do this just because of what day it is. You know I’d be perfectly happy just cuddling and being lazy couch potatoes together.”
“A tempting offer,” you say as you pretend to entertain the proposition, but before Rafayel could stop you, you reposition yourself on your knees on the ground in front of him, fluttering your lashes in a sultry manner. “Let's stick with my idea though. More fun for the both of us.”

“You're not wearing anything under here?” He asks with a slight deviousness to his voice.
You feel your face heat up at the pointed question and clear your throat in an attempt to shake away the embarrassment. It's not like Rafayel hasn't seen you like this before, but granted, it's not usually in such a compromising position in the middle of a shopping mall.
“All of my clothes got dirty, and I didn't feel like buying new underwear,” you rationalize, though the way you're going absolutely haywire inside your head does not match the nonchalance you try to portray.
“Hmm,” Rafayel hums mindlessly, uninterested in your explanation even though he was the one who asked. Wedging his head further in between your legs, he pulls down his face mask and trails kisses along your bare skin as he makes his way towards your pooling heat. They're the same kind of kisses he normally gives you, but the heightened anxiety of the situation makes every touch feel like it's incinerating your flesh.
