Tim and Lucy realize they’re both single and Lucy sings En Vogue at a Halloween party…
“So, then…” He coughs. “That means… Um, we’re both…”
It’s a teasing smile on her face now, and then she cocks her head in a challenge. “Single, unattached adults?” He’s seen this look on her face before, and knows it’s nothing but trouble.
“Hm. Well, that’s something to think about, isn’t it.” She says it as a statement rather than a question, the same knowing smile still on her frustratingly beautiful face. “I’d better go get changed. Wouldn’t want to be late. I’ll see you later, sir.”

Summary
Lucy was the first thing he thought about as he came to. Everything hurt, and he could immediately tell his left arm was dislocated - hadn’t his dad taught him what that felt like early?
But his first coherent thought was of Lucy - was she ok? Had Rosalind gotten to her as well? He could remember the prick of the needle as he’d gone to turn off his alarm, and a flash of Rosalind's face, the disturbing smile down at him as she’d dragged him along.
“The fierce protector,” Rosalind had called him again. “What will Lucy do to save you?”

“We broke up last night. She was, uh, going to go grab some things from my house but didn’t make it by before I left this morning so I wanted her to know I wouldn’t be there.”
She stares at him, not sure what to say, not entirely sure what the dropping of her stomach at his words means, and not willing to analyze it just yet.
“.. last night? Like, after…?”
He shifts again, not meeting her eyes.
“Yeah. After.” Then, suddenly, his blue eyes are piercing hers. “We wanted different things, and it wasn’t fair to keep on.”
