Summary
There isn't anything in the manga or the anime that showcases what happens after Kafka reveals himself or before he gets put in shackles on base, so here's my take on what could have happened
Not to be taken as a serious character study because I kinda had my KafHoshi glasses on when I wrote this so the dialogue is a little biased.
I was also kinda pissed at everyone hating on Mina for arresting Kafka, and I wanted to throw my two cents into the ring and say that not only was this protocol, but ya'll should be thankful because he could of very well ended up with bullet holes in him.Series

Summary
"My old man first did this for me when I was like, two, he said," Rin says unprompted, the first time Bon touches the brush to his scalp. "Said people were asking him why he was carrying around a little grandpa," he chuckles, but it's faint.
Bon doesn't know what compels him, but when the silence after stretches too long, he asks, "And you've seriously been doing it since? Man, how much money do you think your family spent on hair dye over the years?"
Rin barks out a genuine laugh at that. "Probably way too much! I remember one time when I was a kid, dad came back with what felt like a whole years wortha dye boxes, and first thing I asked was, 'we're not getting anything for Christmas are we?'"
Yukio hasn't been around much, so Rin needs to ask a friend for a little help with his hair.
