“I’ve noticed that you two just keep fighting with each other!”
“Well, yeah,” Atsushi says, “we’ve been clashing a lot recently with the Port Mafia, and a lot of people can’t really keep up with Akutagawa. So I sort of have to be the one to fight him.”
“We are not friends,” is Akutagawa’s own response, “we are rivals, enemies, locked forever in a battle for the survival of the fittest, at which ending only one of us will be left standing. It is inevitable that I shall be the one to remain, but alas, nature does like a drawn-out show, as it is the only thing that can bring her entertainment in this meaningless, cruel world.”
“Exactly,” Dazai says. “Lucky for the both of you, I know just the way to put an end to all of this!”
“Dazai, if you’re about to give us tips on how to kill ourselves—”
Dazai cuts Atsushi off. “Fake dating!”
(Fake dating helped Dazai and Chuuya years ago, shouldn't it work for Atsushi and Akutagawa too? Akutagawa, never one to back down from a task Dazai assigns, finds the only logical way to gain Dazai's approval. But he finds this might backfire on him and Atsushi both, while unexpectedly bringing them closer.)
