Jay wants to reach out and say stop pretending, but he knows he can’t. He’s the reason Jungwon’s pretending in the first place. He’s the reason Jungwon’s speaking like someone told him exactly what kind of person Jay would want — quiet, agreeable, easy to accommodate.
The words stick to his tongue like dried blood.
“Jungwon, I just— you can hate me,” he settles on finally, “I wouldn’t blame you.”
There’s a pause. Jungwon blinks, and then his expression softens just a little. He gives a small shrug, elegant and weightless.
“I don’t,” he says. “I don’t feel much of anything right now.”

“I hate you,” Jungwon whispers, more to himself than to Jay. He feels the words more than he means them, but still, it’s safer to say it.
Jay laughs softly, the sound vibrating between them. “You don’t.”
It’s all rivalry. Volleyball and Basketball teams are known to clash. They argue constantly, mostly because Jungwon's a brat and Jay secretly wants him in his lap.

Jungwon nearly throws herself off their dorm building when one day Jay says, “Look at this video Sunghoon sent me.”
Jungwon forces herself to open her eyes and turn to Jay. They were both occupying the couch, a typical evening in their dorm. Jungwon had an assignment to work on but she was practically falling asleep. Jay was reading a book, but it seemed like her phone stole her attention for now.
Jay hands the device to Jungwon. It was a video, sent through Instagram DMs but with the infinite replay option turned on. In it, Sunghoon is in the gym, doing a few hip thrusts, his phone propped up somewhere a few feet away. He added a caption "thought i’d try lifting ur weight lmao".
What the fuck.(or: Jungwon will do anything to keep Jay to herself.)
