Husk reached for Angel’s top left hand, rubbing his empty ring finger with his thumb. He thought about how he and Angel had wound up here, all the dominoes that had to fall into place for them to find themselves in this moment. The string of events that had pushed them into each other’s arms so recklessly, so wondrously. He let himself be pulled down memory lane, wanting to recall every single minute detail of their story.

Angel reached forward and fiddled with one of Husk’s suspenders. He lowered his voice so no one would overhear him. “You know, Husky, you should really be nicer to me.”
Husk’s eyes darted over Angel’s shoulder and back again, his pupils blown wide. “Stop that,” he whispered.
Angel’s lips curled into a devilish grin. “Why? They’re not looking over here.” He gave Husk’s suspender a playful tug. “Unless you’re worried you won’t be able to control yourself.”Or: Angel and Husk have been secretly dating for about a month and debate how soon is too soon to say "I love you."
