    In a non-magical version of Thedas, the peace treaty between Ostwick and Ferelden is renewed every 25 years through a noble marriage. A few years into Alistair Theirin's reign, the time comes around again, and he realizes he needs a candidate. He creates a new noble title for one of his most loyal generals, Cullen Rutherford, and has him marry the youngest daughter of the Bann. Cullen's pretty sure he's not cut out for this at all, and he doesn't know how to even begin to be the husband of a young woman he's never seen.
