Hua Cheng's chest felt tight. He had no idea why. He rolled over again; he could not get comfortable. What did those words mean, exactly? How did it not count? He had seen Xie Lian naked. How was there no significance in it? Nobody had ever seen Xie Lian naked. Hua Cheng rubbed his forehead irritably. Why was he thinking about this? Did Xie Lian not see him as a man? Hua Cheng pressed his arm over his eyes. He felt like a fool for even having these thoughts. Of course Xie Lian didn't see him in that light. How could he? Hua Cheng did not remember much of his childhood, but he knew one thing; the other children had teased him for having an odd-looking face.

He rolled on his back. It was like the words had seared themselves into his mind. They were a burning iron and the inside of his head was a cow. He might never stop hearing those words.
Hua Cheng sunk his teeth into his forearm, exhaling through his nose. He had to stop this. He had to stop having these thoughts. Xie Lian wasn't having these thoughts.
