“And this is a thing that happens every year?” Foreman asks, looking up from this month’s copy of "The Lancet", disbelief etched across his face.
Cameron nods, just barely rocking on her heels, a manila folder clenched in her hands behind her back, solely for appearances. It’s not bad to lie to him, really, she reasons, as he keeps looking up at her. After all, she’s not deceiving him to hurt anyone. It’s for a bit of fun, something that could actually brighten the office for once.
And maybe she could even make House a little happier this holiday season.

Achilles gives the boy a careful look-over. He doesn’t look like a desperado—too young, perhaps, for that— and he’s no peddler either; he's got no wares to sell. His shirt and his leather chaps would have once been of good make though they’re now worn and dusty, and the silver spurs on his boots mark him as anything but a laboring man. Whoever he is, he must have been well off… at some point.
“What’s your name, son?” Peleus asks, a friendly yet cautious smile on his lips. Everyone around these parts has learned not to be too trusting of strangers.
“Patroclus, sir.”
“And what’s your father’s name, Patroclus?”
Patroclus’ jaw clenches. “I ain’t got none, sir.”
Or: the one where Achilles is the wealthy ranch-owner's son, and Patroclus the enigmatic ranch hand with secrets to keep.
