Maybe he's sick. Maybe he's pragmatic. Maybe he's compartmentalising so impressively he doesn't even register anything else anymore. Niall doesn't know. Doesn't care, really. Because he's alive, everytime, and that's the whole point if he would ever think about it long enough to find one. Niall doesn't cut to die, he cuts to survive, and sometimes that's the easiest part of his entire life.

Summary
Eating disorders are hideously complex things. Nobody can pinpoint exactly where they start, and they never really end at all, do they. And like all diseases, some people live to tell their stories, and others, well, others die. Niall knows this, of course he does, but sometimes his life is so busy and chaotic he feels like he might die either way, so what's the point in fighting it?
Or one where Niall develops anorexia and lets it consume him.

Sometimes pain is dull. It seeps cruelly through your bones and shadows your vision. Other times pain is sharp. So piercing. Insurmountable. Michael doesn't know which is worse. All he knows is that taking a blade to his skin keeps him alive; he's not sure his eating habits will do the same.
