Summary
Childe’s grin grows, all teeth. He leans across the table and grips Zhongli by the jaw, pulling them close. “What if I told you I would have brought the damned flowers earlier if I knew what they meant?”
“Then I would call you a fool,” Zhongli whispers, his pupils blowing out, eclipses in the afternoon sun. “You do not know what it means to bed a dragon.”
“Come on, Zhongli,” Childe says, pressing his thumb into Zhongli’s bottom lip. “You know you can’t give me a challenge and expect me to just walk away.”
Zhongli’s lips part on a silent snarl. There’s a thump behind him, and Childe sees the tip of a long, scaled tail curling on the floor. “This is not something to win, Childe. It is something to survive.”

Childe's face burns. “Zhongli,” he hisses. “This is the theatrical performance you wanted me to attend?”
Zhongli’s eyes widen at the distress in his expression. “Indeed. It has a rich and interesting history, and the actors are consummate professionals. We’re exceedingly lucky to be blessed with their presence in Liyue.”
Childe struggles for the language to describe the spectacle they just witnessed. “But they’re— She— This is practically softcore pornography.”
Zhongli pulls his tea nearer and takes a long sip. “There is a carnal element to the proceedings, yes. But it’s closer to art than... pornography.” When he lowers his cup, an imperceptible smile plays across his lips.
