At first the Adepti didn't notice anything at all, the presence so small and weak it was barely a spark in the vast Realm of Dreams. However as the presence steadily grew it didn't take long for them to discover it. Still on edge from the whole incident with Khaenri'ah only a century before the Adpeti fear the presence may be a threat so to no avail they try to find it's source.
As time passes without further incident Morax seeing no ill will from the presence decided to stop actively searching for the source but advised all the Adepti to keep an eye on it anyway. For the next few years this is how it stays until one day a Karma ridden Xiao takes refuge within the Realm of Dreams as he struggles to overcome the built up Karma unknowingly setting off an entire chain of events
Or in which Aether's slumbering body lands in Liyue which is so rich in Adeptal Energy that Aether is able to have an elevated consciousness even while asleep. This leads to him becoming an Honorary Adeptus instead of an Honorary Knight.

Xiao was looking at the floor, as though he had never seen a wooden one before in his life. Aether's words brought him back, and his head had been pulled upwards by an unknown force.
He sort of regretted doing so.
The eyes Aether was giving him currently… They were full of emotion. So many different feelings all at once engulfed Xiao, clouding his brain as his gaze bounced from Aether's beautiful amber orbs, formed with gentleness, gratefulness and… love? Maybe a very strong emotion similar to love, and his lips, that were still smiling at him.
Xiao got the sudden urge to kiss him.
He wasn't very sure why, but the way Aether looked at him, so adoringly and worshipping…
