"No," he answers automatically, but truth be told he'd give it 50/50 odds at most.
"It was a scarf."
Alarm bells sound in Adrien's brain because, like the martyr he is when it comes to his lady, he's thrown himself into the path of an oncoming train, and all he can do is stare as it bears down on him where he's frozen in it's spotlight.
"A...a scarf...like… You said you knitted it yourself?" He chews at his lip to calm the twisting in his gut because this could literally change everything. And it could end in utter disappointment and disgust with the man who is more a taskmaster than a father, but it could also lead to everything he wants coming true. Nothing is ever easy. Nothing is ever perfect. But he'd trade the lie of his father's love for the genuine love of his lady any day. If it's true. The fact he hopes it's true speaks volumes. That alone is an uncomfortable truth he's going to have to stare down regardless of the source of his favorite birthday gift, now a knitted catalyst.

[ For those who may have seen it and read it before 'A Winter Dance' was one of my first fics, and it had plenty of spelling errors, mixed up words, and was just a little bit rushed. So this Holiday Season I decided to give it a remaster, with added scenes and dialogue, and hopefully cleaner writing. While lost in thought and thinking all her efforts to win back her friends and enjoy a romantic winter dance have all been for not, a dark stranger with a familiar face from across the ocean arrives to sweep Marinette off of her feet. Summary
Papillon has discovered Chat Noir’s secret identity.
By sheer luck, Adrien manages to escape the mansion and akumatization, Plagg providing him an out while snatching up something precious to Gabriel Agreste. Adrien crashes onto a familiar balcony and begs Marinette for help, almost revealing his identity in the process.
Distraught over her partner’s predicament, Marinette swears that Chat won’t be alone in this. That she will move heaven and earth to keep him safe.
But neither of them realize just how difficult Papillon was going to make this for them.
(The kids are Aged up (16) and this will be Not entirely Season 4 compliant, some elements will be present, but not everything)
