Summary
"I am not a man of sentiment; that certainly is a trait more fitting of my dear friend Watson, but facts are facts, and it would not become me to report anything less."
Sherlock Holmes reflects on the effect he has wrought on one actor in a line of many.
Sometimes he wonders whether or not things could have ended differently.

Summary
“Are you a spirit?” I asked.
“Tch! It is extraordinarily hasty to wander into the realms of the preternatural on such scant evidence. You will find I am as corporeal as you.”
“I am not so certain about that, Holmes,” I said raggedly, unable to raise my voice to more than a whisper. “You have no pulse.”
