Summary
Neil Josten, formerly Nathaniel Wesninski, whose father, Nathan Wesninski, is the infamous serial killer known as "The Butcher". As a child, Neil was responsible for enabling the police to arrest his father, and has not (of his own volition) seen his father in ten years. Now a profiler, formerly with the FBI, until he was fired and currently consulting for the Baltimore Police Department, Neil is forced to confront his father after a copycat serial killer uses The Butcher's methods of killing. He now finds himself drawn back into constant contact with his father as he must both use Nathan's insights to help the police solve particularly horrible crimes and battle his own inner demons.

Summary
There, in the reflection, he saw it again - a brief flicker of auburn hair, the same color that had haunted his dreams as he'd researched the manor's dark history. His heart hammered in his chest as he peered into the glass, trying to discern the source of the apparition. Yet, when he looked directly at the spot where he'd seen the reflection, there was nothing.
The silence was absolute, and Andrew felt a strange weight in the air, as if something was holding its breath alongside him. He reached out a trembling hand, his fingertips brushing the cool glass. The touch sent a shiver up his arm, and the reflection grew clearer, more defined. The boy's face in the reflection was pale, almost translucent, with freckles dotting his cheeks and auburn hair falling in untamed curls around his face. His eyes were an icy blue, piercing and filled with a haunting sadness.
Nathaniel Wesninski. The Butcher's son. The ghost of the manor.
