He was happy to keep his distance and watch Peter grow up far away from him and all the craziness that came with his life. Except that, even without Iron Man and the Avengers, his kid manages to become a vigilante superhero on his own. Tony probably should have seen that coming. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, after all.
