He pauses. Inhales sharply. Stares down at the contents of the box, eye roving over the gentle curve of the object nestled within. “Gege,” he says in a punched-out voice.
Inside, pillowed on a bed of red silk, is a small object carved out of glossy black jade. It’s a bit shorter than Hua Cheng’s hand, and it flares at the base, narrowing into a conical shape with a rounded tip.

Xie Lian let go of Hua Cheng's hand. His eyes travelled up Hua Cheng's arm and to the nape of his neck, where a matching mark was branded on his skin. Gently, Xie Lian traced the crescent of the tattoo with two fingers. When he pulled away, he realized his eyes were wet.
“You tattooed my bite on your claiming spot,” Xie Lian said, his voice thick with emotion.
As the crown prince and royal heir to the Kingdom of Xianle, Xie Lian is medically induced into presenting as an alpha at a young age. The thing is... his personality isn't very alpha-like.
