Summary
At the end of the Third Age, Sauron falls. Partway through the Second Age, Annatar and Celebrimbor awake, with memories of a future that hasn't happened yet. Each believing himself to be the only one to have traveled in time, they set out to change one another's choices. Much else changes before they are done.

Summary
"You don't look like a person things happen to by chance" is a high compliment, given Sauron's love of order. If only chance hadn't put him on a sinking ship in the middle of the Sundering Sea. This tale starts with Sauron's POV on events in the first season, and will diverge from canon in chapter 3 (his reveal to Galadriel) -- as yes, I'm among those fascinated by the possibilities of Galadriel accepting.

The children of elves die easily, for their souls are thinly bound to their bodies and their fate is to endure but not survive. So when faced with a young hostage he really can't afford to let fade away, Sauron is very careful not to do anything too traumatizing.
(Mostly.)
