Harry leaned back in her chair, pretending to think it over. She tapped the feather of his quill against her chin, drawing the moment out. “Hmm… tempting, but-”
She stopped mid-sentence when she caught the flash of anger in Tom’s eyes. It wasn’t the usual irritation or condescension; whatever it was it was sharp yet it made something crawl down her spine and she found herself straightening her back.
