Just as she pries her head off the bar, the band playing at the far end of the room stops their song and a new voice booms from the microphone.
“I’m terribly sorry to interrupt but…”
Yor whips around to see a man standing on the small stage in front of the band, squinting into the bright spotlights as he leans into the microphone. He looks exactly like Loid, except slightly more disheveled and unlike his usual polished self. Her heart sinks.
Please don’t let that be Loid, she silently pleads.
“I seem to have lost my wife.”
She buries her head in her hands while mumbling curses.
Yor and Twilight learn the truth about each other. Neither of them expected what unraveled afterwards.

An easy lie about shifting schedules. The usual.
