Rudo’s a pretty little thing when he sleeps. Brows forever pinched in a tight scowl, he’ll wrinkle before his prime. Spit gathers at the crease of his parted lips, and soft, cute snores slip through. He twitches every so often, as if even in his dreams he is falling again. Over and over, every night, he’ll have a fit of them—these full-body spasms as his mind forces him to relive that day—and yet, he never wakes.
Tamsy prefers to think it only happens in his presence. Prefers to imagine that Rudo’s body instinctually knows where Tamsy is at all times like a dog tethered and bound from straying too far from its keeper. Perhaps the scent of Tamsy spikes some subconscious knowledge in Rudo’s mind that he has yet to uncover within himself. Perhaps his body knows the proximity of Tamsy deep in its meat and bones, recognizing him in a sixth sense.

It was all Alastor could do to keep from bursting into laughter, despite the situation he was in. Not one that looked particularly promising for him, of course, but he'd predicted everything correctly so far. Vox's flush at Valentino's catty little remark, though – that had only confirmed everything he'd already suspected, cemented it in his skull.
If only Valentino knew.
