My take at a Supernatural season 13 "fix it" fic.
Gabriel's celestial batteries are fried and the gang still needs to save Mary and Jack from the apocalypse world, so Sam comes up with a plan to power him back up again.
If you don't want to call it reckless, we can use... insouciant maybe?

Summary
What if someone had actually bothered to find out some more about the colt before taking on the devil? And of course that person would be Sam, because if anyone is going to be a stickler for thorough research, it'll be him. Now if only they he know someone who would have the answers?
Or basically, what if Sam had tried to talk to Gabriel sometime after tv land, but before Carthage?
Or really, I just wanted Ellen and Jo to survive, because that was really unfair.
