Diluc returns to Mondstadt with a secret three years old, red-headed and blue eyed, clinging to the hem of his coat—a secret he would give his life to keep.
Diluc curves his body around the boy’s, as if he’ll disappear into the night if left unguarded, the way Kaeya seemed apt to, as if he were made more of mist than flesh and bone. But three years in, the only qualities the boy’s inherited from him are the cerulean lock of hair, the sea storm eyes, and his smile. Diluc supposes that makes Kaeya nothing more or less than human.
It makes Diluc nothing more or less than the man who left him.
