Summary
“Eddie!” Nash yells repeatedly. “Eddie! Eddie!”
Eddie feels himself turning bright red.
“Wow,” he says after his name is repeated a good half a dozen more times in a row. “You weren’t kidding, huh?”
“He’s been like this all day,” Maddie says with a grin on her face. She shifts Nash in her arms, pointing over at Eddie as she says, “Look who it is, sweetie. It’s Eddie!”
Nash frowns, looking confused. “Eddie?”
Maddie nods. “Yeah, that’s Eddie!”
“Eddie!” Nash yells, reaching for Buck. “Eddie!”

Summary
“Hey. C’mon. It’s just me, Buck. Talk to me.”
Buck reluctantly meets his eye. “You’re gay, Eddie.”
Eddie arches a brow. “Yep. I know. We had like a whole talk about it. I did the whole coming out thing. There was a cake.”
“There was technically only cupcakes, it was short notice for the team—” Buck’s deflecting. Normally, Eddie loves to listen to Buck ramble, but he decidedly is not interested in letting Buck change the topic right now.
Eddie cuts him off with a tap of two fingers to his cheek. “On topic, Buckley. I’m gay. So what?”
Buck sighs, leaning forward till their foreheads gently knock. He leans against him, eyes fluttering closed. “You’re gay. And I’m—y’know. Not exactly packing heat.”
Oh.
That’s what this is about?
OR
Buck is insecure about starting to have sex with Eddie. Eddie fucks it out of him.

Summary
He should have been relieved that he no longer had to hide, and he was. He just… couldn’t find his footing. He was hallucinating an elaborate reality where he was a person Eddie Diaz held and kissed and took to bed.

Summary
Buck remembers reading something once. He’s not sure where or when, and he’s not even sure who said it. But he’ll never forget the words. He’ll never forget the way they burrowed beneath his skin like an arrow aiming straight for his heart. Those words had made him ache back then, but now the memory of them is ripping him apart.
Someone has to leave first. This is a very old story. There is no other version of this story.
He’d always known it would be Eddie who would walk away first, but he hadn’t expected it to go like this. He hadn’t expected it to hurt quite so bad.
(Or, five times Buck thought Eddie would leave, and the one time he knew he would stay.)

Summary
He doesn’t pay them much mind, though, his attention focused intently on Eddie—there’s an unreadable expression on his face. That doesn’t happen often. Buck’s spent years learning the language of Eddie Diaz, becoming fluent in every single look and expression Eddie could throw at him.
He doesn’t know this one.
“You like tulips?” Buck asks.
Eddie almost jumps out of his skin, startled—apparently so deep in thought he’d forgotten Buck was next to him. “Sure. Uh—They’re nice.”
Eddie’s cheeks flush a soft pink, his hands tightening on the handles of the reusable fabric bags as he shrugs a shoulder, attempting to take another step to continue on their travels through the market.
Buck ignores the instinct telling him to let it go, like he often does.
