The Modern Defense is an opening meant to be much more aggressive, taking the pawn in the King's Gambit offered by the White King to allow more development of the Queen. Maybe that was a mistake, bringing his wife to his own circus, but how could he blame his former self? Do you not blame your shadow for following you? He was stunning, amazing, yet in some sort of twisted way, unreachable, violently unreachable from his own hands. His own tears not human enough for his own love, his face not human, because its never enough. He wants to be enough for him, maybe the right adventure, the right way he could talk to him, from his own mind you can pick any lock if you give it enough time.
Did he blame her? Oh no not at all, oh how Caine wished to be her, wished to step in her shoes as the Queen. He wanted to wear her dress, wear her crown as his, yet he knows better. He's not Queenie. He knows that if he wore it, he will be nothing for Kinger, maybe laughed, but maybe he could imagine for a second. Pretend that he's human enough, pretend he could be the one that takes his breath away.
Or Caine crossdresses and masturbates to feel something.

The circus went quiet. Still. Kinger's jaw would've dropped if he had a mouth, just staring at the brown dog in front of him as if he'd just shot an actual dog right in front of him.
Let me recap.
Scratch and Kinger had been having a small conversation, more of a playful discussion over what types of bugs were most harmful to a system's data base.. Eventually, it had escalated to arguing after Kinger insulted the fact that Scratch had gotten them all stuck in a digital reality..
Soon, it spiraled into just pure exposing each other's insecurities. Most, were true.. And then some were so shocking that there was really no way for them to actually know.. Namecalling, blatant disrespect.. And now this.
