Summary
Set after the finale, although the timeline is a little fluid.
June is moving on. Finally. She has her daughters, her family, her friends, and she intends to put the pieces of her life back together, however that may take shape. She'll help the Americans take down Gilead with whatever she can offer, but she has to focus on herself, just for a while. For her sanity, she has to move forward.
Serena can't stay at the refugee center any longer. She's a woman without a country and she has nowhere to go. Nowhere. Tuello offers to find her a family willing to take them in until they can sort out living quarters for her and Noah. But there is only one person Serena trusts.
Just one.

Summary
The relationship between Fred and Serena is interesting to me. They had a great, passionate love as evidenced by the flashbacks, and somehow, when Gilead came to be, their love became illegal--sex was solely for procreation, and since Serena had never gotten pregnant, the assumption was that she was barren. The demise of their relationship is a central theme of the first few seasons.
The other thing that fascinates me is Serena's extreme desire to become a mother--at any cost. And we do see her going through absolutely any lengths to secure herself a baby--selling off pieces of her soul at the same time.
These are just a few chapters that I was inspired to write when I read the pilot script of The Handmaid's Tale. There is some cannon included, but it's mostly off script.

Summary
You were so close, so close, to leaving Serena behind for good, but that would have been a mistake. If she were ever destined to be free of you, she would never have been on that train. This is your own doing; you’d cursed both of you to this shared existence with your vow to her, standing before the shattered remnants of the Lincoln Memorial:
You will never be free of me until both of my children are safe.
