"I still lack the understanding of exchanging something for nothing," Zero stated, now back in the present reaching for the tree-shaped cookie.
It felt like an easier topic to broach than the one that had been on her mind previously. That was strange. She'd never given such a consideration before.
"In some instances, that may be for the best," Celeste replied as she picked up another cookie. It was a snowman this time.
That response perked up an eyebrow. With many things Zero didn't understand about the Source, Celeste tended to take a stance directly counter to her own.
Seeing her expression, the viera continued, "gifts like this are few and far between. While Miounne had no ulterior motive, the same can't be said for all who would offer a hand. Your instinct to avoid debts is the correct one. If I didn't consider Miounne a friend, I wouldn't have accepted these."
