Summary
I started to get the sweats as the night wore on. He should have been there an hour ago. My guts tightened at the thought that maybe something had happened to him.
As always, I tried to shrug it off. It was something we both understood and lived with — him, obviously, more than me. He was the Navy SEAL, doing covert ops. I was just an interrogator at Intel...we dealt many times with the guys he brought in.
I tried more than once to imagine how I would handle it if he didn't come back from one of those missions.
I couldn't even think about it without getting sick to my stomach.
