Summary
AU... At 26 Beth walks in on Dean having sex with someone else. This is how she finds a new life for herself & meets a certain person. A slow & steady one:
...she didn’t spot the neck tattoo man casually sitting on the steps leading to the entrance of her apartment building until she was directly in front of him. She simultaneously screeched and jumped, shocked.
“Relax, sweetheart.” He stood up, approaching her slowly.
“What, what are you doing here?” Beth managed to hold her voice steady and hold her ground as he stopped in-front of her.
“Thought we should have a little talk.”
“About what?”
“About what you saw in the alleyway.” -

Summary
At the end of S3, Beth & Rio are still antagonistic but have come to a kind of truce. They are, of course, still in denial about what they've done to each other & what they are to each other (it's complicated & toxic like them) & they still struggle to talk:
'Beth let him have his few outbursts of hate filled diatribes, because she understood that he could direct his rage at her forever more, she nearly killed him after all. She tried to get someone else to kill him. She had accepted what she'd done. Didn't pretend she was a good person anymore... she would try to imagine what it would be like to not work with him ever again, to imagine him gone, not threatening her, to imagine how great it would be to be the only boss again. And she would think, it would be great! But she would also have to recall Gil screwing her over, threatening her... It always came back to her thinking, but what would Rio do? She had convinced herself she hated him, convinced herself getting rid of him was for the best, but in reality it wasn’t that simple. Love and hate were cut from the same cloth.'

Summary
Post S2, Rio returns to demand as much as he can take of Beth's new business. This is a 2 chapter slice of antagonism & angry chemistry that softens as they do:
'It was hazy for a bit for him then, falling back, taking her with him, but when he came down enough, she was lying on her back next to him, the covers were over them and her hand was in his, her fingers were intertwined with his. Her thumb was stroking his hand.
Another intimacy.
Another line had been crossed between them.'

Summary
'He would let her come to him and he would give her what she needed, what she wanted and what she and he deserved.'
Rio's POV... My take on that scene in S2 Ep4... the pronouns change to mark the scene change and then we have the smut that we couldn't see in S2 Ep9...

Summary
At the end of S1, Beth makes some choices, ending up deeply indebted to Rio. He's moody af with her, and she's miserable... until something happens to flip their antagonism:
‘…she moved her body against his, pressing her face into his shoulder.
He stayed still, so still, but after a few seconds, he slipped his arms around her, holding her impossibly tight against him. He rested his cheek on the top of her head, slipping a hand up to hold the back of her neck.
They stayed tight together, holding each other up, silently comforting and supporting until Rio eventually pulled back a little, his hands cupping Beth’s jawline…’
