Summary
Sherlock wasn't sure how many times he read and reread the letter. Wasn't sure how many tears staining the paper were Williams or his own. Wasn't sure at what point he dropped the cigarette he didn't even remember lighting onto the floor. He would have clutched onto the paper, but he primally feared ripping the precious, oh so precious words that he tried desperately to engrave into his memory. Eventually he found his voice through the sobs that racked his body, “I felt the same,” He said it more to the air than to himself, wishing that a familiar noble filled that empty space, “This whole time, I felt the same way about you!”
It didn’t have to be this way, he thought desperately to himself. He would make sure of it. He would save the man he cherished above all else, no matter if he didn't want to be saved.
