   Summary

   Jason Kaczemarek is twelve years old when the dead start walking. After they witness the fall of Atlanta, his parents lose hope and leave him by the road to fend for himself. Later, he is found by two gruff-looking strangers who take him back to their camp full of more strangers, and they try to raise him in the cruel world they've come to know.
