Summary
Steve offered up a fading picture. “You were sick like me.”
A small, sickly looking boy stared at the camera. Tony's face was pinched with anxiety, eyes huge in his exhausted, too-thin face. The oversized hospital robe he was wearing was stiff with starch, hanging off his protruding collarbones and pooling at his elbows. Behind him, Maria was stood dressed in her Sunday best. Next to Tony’s diminished pallidity, she was radiant. Her eyes were bright with barely suppressed excitement.
Tony could still feel the phantom touch of her hand on his shoulder, squeezing hard, her fingernails biting into his skin in warning. He shivered and shook his head, stomach churning.
“No, I wasn’t sick like you.”

Summary
Bucky usually avoided rich city boys, finding them almost universally unbearable. But Tony hadn’t looked particularly wealthy that night at Bucky’s favourite dive bar: nursing bottom shelf whiskey in a rumpled white shirt and water-logged shoes. The rain had ruined whatever hairstyle Tony had been going for and dark curls had tumbled wildly around sharp cheekbones.
Bucky had rarely seen a man so beautiful or so sad.
(Or, the one where Tony and Bucky keep having one-night stands and Tony's evil ex makes an appearance.)

Summary
On Jason's feet, are no longer the new shiny red trainers Bruce bought him, but his old and frayed shoes instead. They look even more decrepit now that the boy's actually wearing them, and it's a miracle they didn't rip apart when he put them on.
Something in Bruce cracks a little, but he's always been a good actor. He pushes the worry that he's missing something important somewhere else and smiles at the boy, "Got everything you need?"
Jason lets out a barely perceptible sigh of relief, and Bruce only notices it because he was looking for it, evidently glad Bruce doesn't mention the change in footwear, "Yeah! Let's go."
(Bruce really can't stand Jason's shoes.)
