Summary

As time passes, Gigi and Cecilia will be inexorably drawn together. Their meeting will be fateful for the both of them, and for their hope.

They were a little bit in love with her. This they would admit at night, when it was truly dark and the honks of night time traffic were truly sporadic. When the laptop was still warm from the movie or show, and Nerissa’s breathing had become slow and even. She slept with her hands clasped in front of her mouth. Her horn threatened to take Gigi’s eye out if she twitched too aggressively.
Gigi thought, with the simplicity reserved for loving things, that she was the prettiest thing they’d ever seen. Their mouth would curl over the contours of Nerissa’s name, and they’d wish they could hear the sound. But Nerissa would shift, mumbling something in the haze of sleep, and Gigi would lie there. Quiet. Enough in love for it to hurt.

The owner of the mansion, and thus owner of the table and chairs and food, chuckled. Her bright red hair illuminated by the old torches hanging off the walls and her red eyes gleamed in the light of the fire against her chest.
"While yes, there is the... dirt that clings to you, I'm talking about what's underneath it." She stood carefully, slowly. "There's a distinct smell. No other creature that has stepped foot here has had it."
"... Thank you?" Gigi laughed nervously. "I mean, I'm just me! Never met anyone like me!"
