    Summary

It’s a goddamn humdinger of a disaster, and it’s absolutely not your fault.
    It’s not.
It’s Erin’s fault, and you’ll go to your grave saying it.
She got you into that fucking church. She encouraged you to “use it as an opportunity.” Yeah, you’re never going to let her forget this as long as you’re both breathing.

For now, all you can do is stare at the last page in what is the third basic black-and-white composition notebook you’d managed to fill during your time on Crockett. Your pulse picks up, and you hope it means you’re going to have a major coronary episode that ends your life because right now, it seems easier to die than to show your face in the general store, the small Co-Op, or St. Pat’s – especially St. Pat’s – ever again.

    “Fuck. I’m toast,” you think.

Sometimes, a writer just needs a little divine inspiration.

When you find yourself trying to eek out a new novel for Bold Stroke Books (and, yes, you write *those* novels) Erin takes you to church. It's a strange move that doesn't make much sense - until you see the new priest.
He might not save your soul, but he could be the key to saving your career.
