Summary

Laurent scolded himself for letting Ancel's words get to him.
"Damen is engaged, he's going to be married soon. It will be a wonderful winter wedding. And you will be at his side. Not as his future spouse, but as one of his groomsmen." Ancel smirked in an infuriating way that made Laurent regret befriending him.
"Do you want to know why?" Aimeric asked. "Why you haven't stood a chance?"
Laurent glared at Aimeric, but he just raised an eyebrow. Laurent let out a shuddering breath and relented.
"Why?”
"Because you never gave him any reason to want you. You were always at his beck and call, always there when he needed you. He never had a need to chase after your attention." Aimeric grinned at the confused face Laurent made.
"And why exactly are you telling me this?"This time, it was Ancel you replied. "You need Damen to chase after you. You need to make him feel like the second best. Maybe then, he'll realize what he's been missing this entire time."
