    He hardly looks up from whatever he’s doing, and you know you’re sure to be let go soon because why else would he be so stoic. You need to be brave. Brave enough to let yourself go before everyone’s resentment bubbles over and their nice memories are tainted with the memories of how you couldn’t pull it together.

    The room is dimly lit, it’s dark out and cool with the window open in September. Your feet stay glued to the tile in front of the door and he still doesn't speak. Worse than torture, is what this is. Terrible silence and loathing instead of yelling and cursing at you. It feels like hours you wait for him to glance up and you’re already nauseous when you see the smile in his gaze.

    A string unravels inside of you. Pure, ecstatic relief. His eyes crinkle around the corners in the kindest way and it hurts. His expression turns from welcoming to all too knowing and that makes you untangle more until nothing's holding you together anymore. A strained sound escapes your chest and you feel the crease in your brow form.
