Danny would be the first to admit that he hasn't been the best of friends lately. There were a couple of reasons that quickly jumped to his mind, but if he was being honest he wouldn't call them that, he would call them excuses. Because the reason Danny had pulled back from Steve during these past few months had nothing to do with the hectic life he's been leading.

After he and Rachel got divorced he was certain he was going to die alone. The tears Steve's been holding, not too well he might add, started falling soundlessly, and Danny murmured his condolences in his ear, pulling Steve even closer and running one hand up and down his back. That was exactly what Steve needed, what grounded him, not Cath's touch, as unfair as it was to her, but Danno. His Danno. Always the thing that made everything bearable.
