“A date,” Colin deadpans, swiping the last biscuit from the tin. He points it at her before taking a thoughtful chew. “Call it what you want, El. Twist it whichever way, it’s still a date.”

“I hope you had fun today. Please be with me instead.”
So he said nothing. Instead, he took the long way, stretching the moment just to share the same air with her. It calmed him, knowing she wasn't getting married today — that for now she was with him, in his car, and he was taking care of her. That way, he could let his mind drift and imagine that she was running away with him on her wedding day, with her beautiful veil on and his leather jacket wrapped around her.
The evidence that she almost belonged to another, but ended up choosing him.
or Colin picks Penelope up from her hen party and the fact she is wearing a veil fucks him up a bit.
