    Maddie knew Eddie Diaz but she didn’t know Eddie Diaz. They were friendly and had spent time together, but she suddenly realized that she really didn’t know him all that well. All she knew about the man was what Buck had told her; so in some ways, she knew him but only through the joyful expressions and anecdotes her baby brother shares with her.

    “Buck will be okay, you know him. He’s stubborn as all hell,” she said with feigned optimism. He smiled sullenly back at her in agreement.

    “Come with me?” She asked gently as she placed the brass key back into his calloused hands.

    Eddie looked down at her and folded the key into his hand and nodded, “Of course.”

    In the hours after Buck is struck by lightning, Maddie is faced with retrieving the last will and testament of her brother, just in case. Together, with Eddie, they learn more about their brother and friend.
