Lena Luthor, daughter of a famous businessman and sommelier, buys a vineyard. Sure, she's a woman on the brink of divorce with no experience in the wine industry--but this is her chance to take a leap of faith and finally seize control of her story.
What she doesn't expect is the landscaping company hired by her soon-to-be-ex husband. In particular, one employee, Kara Danvers, takes a special interest in her project.

Summary
Ava says, “Sometimes I love you so much I want to crack your ribs open and crawl inside you. Is that weird?”
There was a time when this sort of statement might have thrown Bea, at least made her pause for a moment. Instead, she considers it. “No,” she decides after a moment, “I think I know what you mean.”
---
Twelve months after Ava's return, Beatrice learns how to be happy.

Summary
The world stops when her shaking fingers find their way to Beatrice’s neck, fingertips slick with blood as they search for a pulse in the familiar spot that makes Beatrice make unspeakable noises and do unspeakable things with Ava kisses it, under the sweep of a jawline Ava has so well memorized she might as well have been born knowing it. The world stops because there’s nothing there, a cruel stillness in Beatrice’s veins and laxness to her body as Ava’s shaking hands grab for Beatrice’s wrist, ripping at her bracers so clumsily that the halo flares and the leather-- expensive and combat-prepped, sturdy, strong-- rips under her hands so she can try for the pulse at her wrist.

Summary
Beatrice finds herself musing not over duty and sacrifice and God, but the truth of angels, if they can be created rather than summoned. If they can take the form of women with overeager mouths and careless limbs and eyes with a depth that beckons - a crooked finger, a spiral staircase - if they can be both human and not, both beautiful and terrifying.
Ava asks, What do you want, Beatrice?
(Tell me and I’ll give it to you. Tell me and I’ll build you a home there. Tell me and I’ll rearrange the universe to make it all fit, angels and demons be damned. Tell me it’s me. Me. Me.)

Summary
Ava feels like screaming. On the one hand, she’s really happy that Beatrice decided to go on a little adventure on her own, on the other hand, fuck if it’s not a pain in the ass. She didn’t rob two banks, get chased by the cops and beat that shady guy in Buenos Aires until he accepted to forge her papers just for Mother Superion to tell her Beatrice left about two years ago without leaving so much of a phone number to her sisters. God, Bea can be such a drama queen sometimes.
